Your editor, Zoperman, is already using it for some internal projects. And nothing better than reading the release note, which we reproduce translated below, to get an idea of what this new version brings.
Here we reproduce the original note from the Grok development team:
Grok 1.3 is the latest release of Grok based on the Zope Toolkit 1.1c1.
While the previous version reduced the number of dependencies in the package hierarchy that makes up Grok, in this version we see important changes in the typical functionality of a Grok based application.
Because version 1.1 of the Zope Toolkit (ZTK) drops support for Python2.4 and adds support for Python 2.7, it has been possible to update a large number of packages, among them ZODB. At present, Grok does not need to reimplement any version of the ZTK packages.
To see a list of the versions of the packages that Grok brings:

To update a project, it is recommended to follow the upgrade notes for the new version defined here:
http://grok.zope.org/doc/1.3/upgrade.html
Some of the new features of Grok 1.3 are:
- Support for the most recent version of martian.
- A refactoring of the template registry is added. This means a considerable drop in warnings concerning templates that are not associated.
- The inclusion of the Fanstatic library and WSGI components. According to the Fanstatic site:
«»» Fanstatic is a small but at the same time very powerful framework, aimed at the automatic publication of resources on web pages. Think of Javascript and CSS. It serves static content, but it does it really well. «»»
The functionality of the «static» directory of Grok projects is now based on Fanstatic, and zope.fanstatic takes care of providing the compatibility layer.
- The new version of the «grokproject» tool is now able to generate Grok projects of versions < 1.3
- The Grok community is not only working on generating code, it is also improving the documentation, and not only the «official» one, also the one generated by the community. This is a task that is still being carried out.
We know that this new version requires structural changes that will affect your current Grok based projects. Let us know if you find problems when updating to the new version through the grok-dev mailing list or through the #grok IRC channel on Freenode. We will try to help you, and that will also help
us, the Grok developers, to fix issues and bugs.
