What I maintain and what I am building

Free software: projects I maintain, my work in Debian, and what is in progress.

Projects I maintain

Software I am responsible for upstream: I cut the releases, fix the bugs and answer the users.

Android

Cefrium

SDK pre-1.0 · browser in public beta

A port of the Chromium Embedded Framework to native Android. The app carries its own Chromium engine instead of the system WebView, so every device renders the same way. Free under LGPL-3.0-or-later, with the SDK on Maven Central.

Archaeology

Conquer

GPL-3.0 · playable in the browser

A 1987 Unix strategy game by Ed Barlow and Adam Bryant, with no free licence. I started on debian-legal in 2006 and, after 20 years of tracking down the authors, versions 4 and 5 are GPL-3.0. Packaging it for Debian is the next step.

Repository

wolfi-packages

Community, unofficial · light maintenance

Packages for Wolfi, the Chainguard distribution built for software supply chain security, that are not in the official repository: Stremio, Qt5 WebEngine, Debian tooling, TeX Live, OCaml and much more. Melange recipes built in CI for x86_64 and aarch64, signed and served as an apk repository. It includes converters from Alpine to Wolfi, and from Debian to Wolfi and back, to port packages from one system to another with little effort.

Repository

debian.vejeta.com

Unofficial apt repository · in use

The pipeline that builds and publishes debian.vejeta.com: Debian packages built from source to Debian packaging standards, signed and served as an apt repository. Today it ships libcef tracking every Chromium release, brow6el, the rust-cef bindings and the archived Stremio clients.

In Debian

Debian Maintainer since October 2026, in the Go, Java, Rust and Chromium teams.

Multimedia

Stremio

In Debian since September 2026

My first package, from a 2019 RFP. It went into main together with stremio-server-installer in contrib, and ten new Rust crates along the way.

Browsers

Chromium Embedded Framework

Debian Chromium team

Six months packaging CEF, which brought me into the Debian Chromium team. Until CEF is built as part of the Debian Chromium build, I ship libcef as a .deb in my unofficial repository, tracking every Chromium release. I also fixed the Chromium builds on armhf and maintain the rust-cef Rust bindings.

Everything else

All my packages

Scala, Go, Rust, Java, C/C++, JavaScript, Dart

The whole Scala ecosystem: Scala 2.12, Scala 2.13, Scala 3 and sbt 2, with their libraries and dh-scala. And beyond that, from dart-sdk and testdisk to flexmark-java, jline4, node-lit and the OpenTelemetry collector. The full, up to date list, with versions, bugs and the state of each one, is on my Debian QA page.

In progress

What I am bringing to Debian now. If you can sponsor uploads, what is pending is on my wiki page: wiki.debian.org/JuanMendezRey

Security

syft · trivy · grype

SBOM and vulnerability scanning

The complete SBOM and vulnerability scanning stack for Debian: syft generates the software inventory, and trivy and grype find the vulnerabilities.

JVM

Scala 3 · sbt 2

Modern Scala in Debian

Bringing Scala in Debian from 2.12 to 2.13 and 3, with sbt 2, its libraries and dh-scala. It also opens the door to tools written in Scala such as Joern, the static analysis platform.
