New technologies and free access to information are also an active
struggle. From the shadows, behind the light of a monitor, many
hacktivists type fast and constantly to write a better world.
Reprogramming what has been written to turn it around onto a digital
format, but above all an open one. We are all part of a great Network,
of a web of computers fighting for a just, supportive, stable world,
open to any kind of person, without having to make distinctions on
grounds of economic conditions, sex, race or religion.
The speed at which new technologies grow and above all the eagerness
of governments to make them work against the people drives us to work
at an almost dizzying speed that is bearing fruit. Without a doubt,
we like what we do, although we would rather not have to do it. We are
a group of various collectives that have decided to join together to
do what they know best, reprogram the system, from
below.
The latest laws on the levy on digital media, the latest approvals
of laws on P2P, the surveillance we suffer in the streets and public
places, the refusal to allow access to information that should belong
to the people, privacy, the free sharing of ideas and media,… are just
some of the things that show it is necessary to unite against a system
that, fortunately or unfortunately, has become
obsolete.
We all have a place in that fast world of bits that become bytes,
the ports are open and the processors ready; you do not need great
knowledge, only a wish to learn, share and collaborate in favour of
the supportive causes that keep us united in a single entity, the
Hackmeeting.
The 2008 Hackmeeting will take shape in Málaga, specifically at the
CSOA «La casa invisible» on the 17, 18 and 19 of October. During those
days the ideas of the Network will spread over an occupied space where
we will feel the warmth of our companions.
We encourage you to take part in the event directly, either by
preparing Nodes or by taking part in them, either technical or social
talks, whatever you are best at. Remember that we all have something
to tell and that sharing is good.
