The Course

This is an advanced class for entrepreneurs, designed for teams that have already started a company or that are seriously thinking about starting one. We encourage teams to take part in the class together, since much of the work focuses on working with your board to make real progress on the most important issues of your startup.

For each startup team, we will create a board made up of your peers that is based on your needs, their skills, and everyone’s commitment. In addition, one of the first tasks for each team will be to find one or two experts from your area to serve on your board for the duration of the class. One of the requirements in this class will be to serve on another team’s board.

As we move forward, we will refine the composition of the board based on the peer reviews and the effort shown. We will optimise this class for the entrepreneurs who are willing to invest time and energy in helping themselves and others.

On completing this course, students:

– will understand the crucial role that boards play in successfully launching startups, – be able to identify and effectively recruit board members,

– be able to lead a board meeting, offering useful guidance and making important decisions,

– and you will have made significant progress in building your startup.

This class will be interactive and team based. We will use videos and readings to convey the best practices on a board. However, most of the learning in this class will happen when applying those best practices on your board with the goal of making significant progress on your startup.
