“Joyent has announced a new operating system, SmartOS based on Illumos/Solaris, which incorporates ZFS, DTrace, Zones and, as a novelty, they have ported KVM. A livecd can be downloaded to try it out, and they have opened a project on github with the source code.”

Illumos, the heir to Open Solaris, incorporates cutting-edge technologies developed in this operating system, such as ZFS. The novelty is the addition to the system of KVM, the virtualisation built into Linux a few years ago.
