The historic Bell System Technical Journals (BSTJ) accessible over the Internet

*As echoed at http://barrapunto.com *

«The Bell Laboratories (also known as Bell Labs, Bell
Telephone Laboratories or Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs) have decided to put up
for download their entire collection of old Bell System Technical Journals.
The Bell laboratories were for years a reference point in cutting-edge
research in many areas of technology. And in these journals we can
find anything from the invention of the transistor or of CCDs, Shannon’s
communication theory, or an issue devoted to UNIX. These are thousands of pages collected in 62 volumes, published from the year 1922 to 1983».

As a curiosity, the following articles refer to Unix:

BSTJ.1978.5706-2.html
BSTJ.1982.6109.html
BSTJ.1983.6206.html

From 1984, when Bell Labs became known as AT&T, the journal changed its name to AT&T Bell Laboratories Technical Journal, to reflect the division of the company.

We do not know whether the articles from this period belong to Bell Labs, now Alcatel, or to AT&T, now belonging to Southern Bell, and whether this has a bearing on them not having been published either.
