Even though the die hard plan9 users will keep using rio, the Announcement of Equis will serve those who, because of their dependence on unix programs, felt that they needed an X server. fgb plans to include the changes in the xorg trunk.
From plan9, we can see the description of the tarball with the contrib tool:
% contrib/list -v fgb/X11
fgb/X11:
Description:
Equis - Xserver for Plan 9 + Xlibs.
Contents: 115.40Mb in 6023 files
Modified: Tue May 6 14:42:48 GMT 2008
Depends: freetype z
And to install:
% contrib/install fgb/X11
